In the yoga sutras, it is said that the impressions that we have within our consciousness are so powerful that material nature then fills them in. Take a look at your body real quick. That’s what you were thinking when you left your last body. You were absorbed in that, and the material nature accommodated and just filled it in. There was a mold created from your impressions. Material nature then filled that in and you came out in your next form.
However, nothing happened to you, the soul. There’s no destruction of the soul at any time, ever. It always existed. It’s hard to conceive of that when we are in the framework of time. Actually, we have no beginning, we have no end, and we always exist. But when I’m identified with the body, I think I just died, or I’m going to die, or somebody took birth.
